The President’s Club: TSS Photography Rewards Top Franchise Owners
As a franchise owner, few goals rank higher than growing your business. However, life often gets in the way if you aren’t consistently motivated to reach higher than before. This is where franchisors can offer incentives to franchisees to help keep them focused and motivated.
What Incentive Motivates TSS Photography Franchisees?
At TSS Photography, the top tier franchise owners are inducted into the President’s Club. New members are named once each year. While not easy to reach, the guidelines for entry are set where any franchisee can make induction an achievable goal.
The highlight of attaining President’s Club status is a three-day all-inclusive, beach-resort vacation. Who wouldn’t work hard for a perk like that?
“While there are other incentive programs and a volume rebate system, the President’s Club trip is an enjoyable way to honor those franchisees who are high achievers,” said Alison Counts, vice president of franchising and marketing director at TSS Photography. “It helps to bring people together and allows us to enjoy just getting to know each other in a social atmosphere. It helps to forge and keep friendships among our hardest working folks.”
As part of the club, this elite group becomes part of the committee guiding the company into the future. Alison mentioned they do tap into the club and say things like “Hey, what do you think about this?” or “Could you give me some ideas about that?”
How Do You Reach the President’s Club?
There are several opportunities and tiers to climb before gaining entry into the President’s Club.
If you are new, showing impressive growth and change during your first full year owning the business will land you a spot among the top tier. This is one way the company helps dedicated new franchise owners create a solid network of support with other dedicated franchisees.
If you grow your business a certain amount or your business grows to a certain size, you’ll be asked to join this elite club. Additionally, if you stand out in leadership and community roles while conducting your top-notch business, you can also be included.
You have to be in good standing with your community and be free of any lawsuits against you–both professionally and personally. TSS Photography believes franchisees should be pillar members of the community and they stand behind those principles.

What do President’s Club Members Have to Say?
You don’t have to take us at our word when we say our sports photography franchise owners love the incentive program currently in place. Keep reading to see what four franchisees have to say about being part of the President’s Club.
Rachel Sherman – I have had my own franchise area for almost a year, but was a part of the company as a partner for 25 years. As a part of the partnership, we could hit the top and be in the President’s Club every year. The trip this year was my first since becoming a sole owner.
It’s nice to be part of such a tight-knit group and have the company bouncing innovative ideas around among you. Getting to go to Mexico or the Bahamas for two or three days and spend the entire trip together is amazing since we generally live across the country from one another.
Steve Sindell – I’ve been on several President’s Club trips including ones to Playa Del Carmen and Cancun. You can’t ask for a better incentive than to go somewhere warm in February. It’s usually all about sitting and relaxing, eating and drinking–and plenty of all the above.
Usually, one night we do dinner together. It isn’t mandatory, but it is nice to enjoy it together. One day the corporate folks will usually plan one big event as part of the inclusive trip–a boat trip, a historic trip, snorkeling, etc.
They take care of everything. Booking, cars, the resort, everything. You get to walk into the airport in vacation mode. The owners are genuinely caring people, and they want to make sure you feel like part of the family. They appreciate how hard we work to reach these levels and they reward it with these incredible trips.
They really pay it forward and I try to pass that onto my staff.
Tod Cohen – There’s no set agenda–some people can choose to be on their own while others choose to spend time together. Some people prefer to just lay back and spend time by the pool. One day, when we were in Playa del Carmen, we took a ferry trip to Cozumel, the island across the way. We all went snorkeling and it was a fun activity in which everyone could participate.
My focus is always on growing my business, so being awarded the trip is a great plus. The people who are in the President’s Club are also asked to be leaders. We participate in conference calls and give feedback on things the photography lab may be considering–whether it is marketing materials or new products.
Maggie Depoorter – Since the President’s Club is made up of the highest performing folks in the company, it is great to be able to bounce ideas off them and hear what is working for their businesses. This club is a group who receives their main income from TSS Photography. This isn’t a side job or a second job for these owners. This is their career and there is a just a different mentality among this group.
Our business is made up of my mother and me and TSS Photography is our focus. Our first year, our goal was to be rookie of the year and we made it. It took us more than five years to get there again. Now that we are at that threshold, we hope to make the President’s Club every year. I went on the trip this year and hopefully, my mother takes the trip when we make the cut next year.
